Dragonkin

An ancient black dragon used a breeding program to produce a dedicated slave army with which it hoped to destroy a nearby rival. This dragon could change shape to human form and thus decided to breed with the lesser races to form its slave army. Once this breeding technique became known, other dragons attempted the same process. These creations became known as the Dragonkin. These offspring have shown the same characteristics as the parent dragons but to a much lesser degree. They also could not fly. The proliferation of these breeding plans led to the dragon wars, and thus, the low number of dragons, mainly chromatic dragons, decreased even further.

The dragon wars ended when the chromatic dragonkin revolted against their enslavers, destroyed a few more dragons, and migrated to their lands. They are a very insular and suspicious race, but some still leave their homeland to travel the world.

While the metallic dragons also engaged with the lesser races, the metallic dragons had the consent of their partners and did not engage in slavery.

Dragonkin recently appeared in the Kingdom of Goranth. The Red Dragonkin formed the basis of the Northern slave trade, which captured the lesser races and subsequently enslaved them. Blue Dragonkin are reported to be involved in transmutation experiments.

There has been only one report of a metallic Dragonkin, a gold. This Dragonkin was instrumental in the final defeat of the Red Dragonkin.
