Upon first landing, the settlers were widely dispersed randomly across the planet rather than within local communities as initially planned. This meant that there were large discrepancies in the available talents in each settlement. Some settlements, especially those of single colonist pods, disappeared. Some settlements remained with the pods, while others fled and formed nomadic tribes.
The randomness of pod distribution has caused society to split into different faucets. Civilisation has had to relearn its various forms of government, including slavery, theological, and authoritarian dictatorships. The most common forms of society were kingdoms formed on the ancient European feudal system, city-states formed along the lines of the ancient Greek city-states, and nomadic tribal societies.
